Description: Stereoview photograph of a street and buildings in Keene, New Hampshshire, by French & Sawyer, circa 1860s to 1870s. The untitled view, from the series Stereoscopic Views in Keene and Vicinity and entitled only (marked with X) A series of 16 Views of Our Village and Vicinity, taken from the Second Congregational Church Tower, looks downs on the intersection of a few streets in a small city. Most of the buildings are two and three story commercial structures with a church visible at left. There are a few trees in a cluster in the middle of an intersection that might be a village square of some sort. The stereoview is in only good condition with light wear and soiling. Note the rubbing and bumping at the corners and around the edges of the card. The photographs exhibit only fair to good tonal range and show only good detail. The image does improved when viewed with a stereoscope. Nice early Keene NH birds eye view image!
