Description: A great piece of Vermont history! 149 years of age. I moved to New England in the late 70s. My neighbors had a sale when they were moving and this book was found in their basement. They had no idea how it got there. This small, 6 x 4 inch, marble-covered book was owned by Charles Smith Boynton of Brandon, VT. He was in business with F.N. Manchester as "Boynton & Manchester, Druggists." Charles was obviously a pharmacist. The first page is dated July 6,1875. It is stamped "Boynton and Manchester's Pharmacy, Brandon, VT." On that first page, there is also a label from the MacKinnon Pen Co., 200 Broadway, NY. The cover is loose; yet still sewn to the spine. The first 2 pages have separated from the spine. I count at least 130 pages with handwritten prescription recipes, and about 15 pages with labels, articles, clippings, etc. Some recipes included are for elixers, cologne, French polishes, hoof ointment, German corn cure, copying pad ink, black liniment, hair wash, aconite lotions, all sorts of pills and syrups and oils, how to destroy ants, etc. There are approximately 40 blank pages. Please ask all questions that you might have before purchasing, making an offer, or placing a bid. Payment accepted through eBay/PayPal only. I only ship to the continental US. Currently, if I do not receive payment within 4 days from the end of the auction, eBay will automatically re-list the item. If for any reason you are not satisfied with the item when you receive it, please contact me immediately. Thank you so very much for your interest!
