1912 ORIGINAL "A HISTORY OF THE CIVIL WAR" BY BENJAMIN J. LOSSING IN 16 SECTIONS

Description: Amazing book from 1912 by Benjamin J. Lossing. There has been many different printings of this, but I think this is an orginal. As you can see by the photos, the cover boards are dirty and have wear as does the backside. The spine is in rough shape but has it's binding in tact, but has separated from the front board. An old tape repair can be seen and is still there but no longer holding it. The sixteen sections of the book all have their inside front cover color plates of great commanders in action and famous battle scenes from the paintings of H.A. Ogden, who did the cover design, and other famous artists of military subjects. Each section deals with a different aspect of the war and is fully illustrated with facsimilie photographic reproductions from the period. This celebrates the 50 anniversary of the Civl War. Photographs give credit to Matthew Brady and his photographers. Each section has it's own cover and is approx. 32 pages in length. Tons of photos.
