Description: "SCAREDY BLACK CAT" ORIGINAL HALLOWEEN DECORATION – circa 1920's marked "Made in U.S.A." (unmarked Beistle). Approx. 9" x 7.5". Black & white litho on die-cut cardboard. This black cat figure (also known as the "Scaredy Cat" design) is jointed with 3 metal grommets on legs & tail. It's an iconic Halloween Beistle image packed with expressive spookiness. Scarce & early with excellent eye appeal. Condition is considered GOOD to FAIR with mild surface/stain/edge wear. Mild surface creasing/scuffing with two small nail holes on curved back area. One back paw is torn & missing. That being said, legs can be positioned for display with minimal distraction and a pleasing visual result (see first photo). All metal grommets are secure and function well (a moveable jointed example). No other edge tears or separations. Imagery is bold and eye catching. Overall, despite paw defect, we consider this a very displayable piece by most standards (see photos). It would make an impressive HALLOWEEN display for the discriminating VINTAGE HOLIDAY enthusiast.
