Description: If you're an uncompromising collector of antique technology, make sure to check out all my listings after you look at this one. I don't think you'll find a better, broader or more balanced assortment of technical antiques anywhere -- hundreds of no-reserve auctions each year, almost all of them featuring eye-popping "gee whiz" gadgetry in exceptional original condition. And don't forget, you can click this link to quickly add and then save me to your favorite seller list and Ebay will automatically send you updates when I put similar new auctions online.Hard to believe, but 100 years ago, horn radio speakers were considered to be unsightly intrusions on living room decor. With that in mind, the Radialamp Company of New York stumbled upon what it thought was a brilliant idea. Disguise a loudspeaker as a lamp, the company figured, and the world would beat a path to your door.Well, that didn’t happen, but perhaps as a result RadiaLamps today are more cherished, and more collectible, than the horn speakers they sought to replace. This example is in excellent condition (both lamp and loudspeaker). Exquisite patina on the bronzed casting, and the driver is good.Included with the speaker/lamp are two vintage style contemporary light bulbs. They're the same bulbs you see pictured with the lamp. The paper shade with its stitched trim is original to the lamp, and it's in good condition overall. No tears or damage, and no creasing; just a few broken stitches on the peripheral trim strip that are not noticeable unless you're looking for them. The AC line cord, the AC plug, and the fabric-sheathed driver cord are also original, and they're electrically viable, with no repairs.Height is approximately 19″.I'm one of ebay's best known, most highly regarded sellers of technical antiques, and I specialize in radios and radio-related items from the 1920's and 1930's. I've been selling and shipping them for more than 25 years. When you purchase an antique radio from me, you'll receive a radio that arrives safely because it's been carefully packed (by me, not by some well-intentioned but nonetheless confounded, doe-eyed teenager working at the UPS store who wouldn't know a phonograph from a farm tool), Sure, you can probably get a lower price from Joe and Janet Barn-Find, but when your "bargain" arrives broken, and without any hint of how you might be able to put it back together, you'll realize that you really do get exactly what you pay for. That's about it. Auction participants with no prior feedback should contact me before placing a bid.
