Description: Jack Katz (born 1927) is an American comic book artist and writer, painter and art teacher known for his graphic novel The First Kingdom, a 24-issue epic he began during the era of underground comix. Influenced by such illustrative comic-strip artists as Hal Foster and Alex Raymond, Katz attended the School of Industrial Art in New York City. He began working for comic-book publishers in the 1940s, during the period fans and historians call the Golden Age of Comic Books. During 2017, Jack Katz was contracted by the MEARS Pop Culture Museum to create this original depiction of a 1940s style Captain Marvel. With great attention to detail, Captain Marvel is pictured in his traditional costume. The original is part of the MEARS Pop Culture Museum Collection. The very talented Joe Rubinstein inked and colored the original. During May of 2017, the professional staff of MEARS arranged for a private signing with Jack Katz at his California home. Mr. Katz signed this full color 11x17 gloss archival stock paper print in near mint blue sharpie marker. Each print has been authenticated by the professional staff of JSA autograph authenticators and their official company hologram and matching certificate of authenticity card accompanying this piece. Their unique hologram number is maintained at the JSA website which validates the items authenticity. (P0049)
