Description: 1960s End of the Trail Bookends James Fraser Western HEAVY Both SPEARS NOT BENT Vintage pair of bookends, End of the Trail by James Fraser. They are in excellent condition with both original spears and the SPEARS are NOT BENT! Typically these are found without the spears or the spears have been bent over the years. These bookends were made in the 1960's. They are most likely cast iron and were painted at the foundry to look bronze. I have seen several people selling them as bronze statues, yet they have the bookend base (flat on the 1 side). This pair of bookends belonged to my grandparents and they were the original and only owner prior to me inheriting them. These are not a modern reproduction and were never tossed in a box carelessly. Cast iron castings are rarely perfect and these are no exception, but they are in excellent vintage condition with the original green felt on the underside. Great example of this classic set of bookends.
