Description: For sale is an incredible 1971 (1971-1972 Season) TYPE 1 Original photo of Julius Erving aka Dr. J. In this outstanding image you see Dr. Jinvolved in a timeout during a game. This huddle is being led by the famous Squires Coach Al Bianchi at the Norfolk Scope Arena. This was Julius's Debut season while playing for the Virginia Squires who were members of the American Basketball Association before the 1976 NBA merger took place. He was such an important player in Basketball's history. He is the one player that legitimized the ABA (American Basketball Association). When they Merged with the NBA in 1976 they said that some superstars were not happy to be playing against him. Playing in both leagues he would go on to win 3 Championships, 3 Scoring Titles and 4 MVP Awards. He was the only player to win an MVP in both leagues. His 30,026 Points would land him easily into the Hall of Fame. I loved watching him as a kid and what always stood out to me was his Dunks from the free-throw line in the Slam Dunk Contests.
