These will be shipped quickly to you via Priority Mail. ... the sooner you get them planted, the sooner they can start sending down finer roots into your soil. AVAILABLE FOR FAST SHIPMENT - I USE PRIORITY MAIL THIS LISTING IS FOR 1 LOT OF 8 (eight) 3yr.-old plant roots/bulbs These roots are dormant now for the rest of this year and so it's an ideal time to ship them and plant them in your garden so they can put down some finer roots before winter comes. * * * NOTE * * * Some of the roots in this particular batch are, in my experience, a little bit smaller than usual for 3-yr olds, so I have priced them accordingly. Some have multiple growth buds and so will probably be big enough to bloom next spring, but some may need another year of growth in your garden to reach bloom size. If you have patience and enjoy the anticipation of gardening, this may be a good buy for you. They will be shipped as bare roots, with some potting soil attached. I'll include detailed instructions/suggestions for planting them now. These are plants that I have carefully & responsibly grown in pots from seed. They are not dug from the wild. The plants are long-lived perennials, and they'll get larger and have more blooming stems as they get older (see all my photos). And they will reproduce via seeds eventually, too. Almost as soon as the snow melts, Virginia Bluebell plants are ready to burst forward with their magenta and pink flower buds which become beautiful azure blue as the flowers open. Virginia Bluebells is a native eastern North American spring ephemeral wildflower species. "Ephemeral" means they appear in spring, flower and set seed, and then the foliage dies back and they "disappear" until next spring (the root remains alive, as these are perennials.) The flowers are an important early spring nectar source for hummingbirds and bees. This species generally prefers shade or part shade, and moist soil at least in spring; the sunnier the area, the more moisture they will need. They are not very hard to grow but it does take a few years to get them from seed to bloom size. Virginia Bluebells bloom at the same time as late daffodils, bleeding hearts, and redbud trees, and they stay in bloom for about two weeks. They are shade and part-shade loving perennials. The tops of Virginia Bluebells will die back in late spring, right about the time hostas are fully leafed out, so they are perfect for growing in your hosta garden. If you've ever seen a large expanse of solid Virginia Bluebells in bloom, you will never forget itSHIPPING : Shipping to USA only. No shipping to AK, HI.
