Description: Author: Ayer, Alfred Jules Title: Language, Truth, and Logic Sir Hardy Amies library Subtitle: Series: Publisher: Victor Gollancz Year: 1952 ISBN: Signed: Inscribed: “Freddie Ayer June 19 1967” Dust Jacket: very Good Book: Very Good clean condition; Hardy Amies pastedown inside front cover Text: Very good, clean Backstory: This is a later printing of one of the more important philosophical works of the twentieth century. It was the 1936 manifesto of logical positivism. It is not only signed by A. J. Ayer, which makes it a rare item, it is from the library of Sir Edwin Hardy Amies KCVO, designer to Queen Elizabeth II, and founder of Hardy Amies label in fashion. The book itself Is in very good to near fine condition. The Ayer signature and Amies label make It a unique find. I could find no other signed copies of the book when preparing this description. I purchased this as a “signed by author” example because I value the connection of holding a book that was personally held by its author. I am selling many books from my personal professional library associated with 50 years of teaching. Books are in philosophy, psychology, economics, sciences, etc. Please ask questions or for additional images. I am not a professional book grader or seller. I recommend buying books that you see rather than relying solely on a seller’s description. Add to “know thyself,” the wisdom in book buying “view the book before you buy it.”
