Ancient Egyptian Faience Scarab Ring in a 19th Century Gold Setting (Magical)

Description: Ancient Scarab circa 1400 B.C.E. in 19th Century Ring Setting (Tested as 9k Gold) This magnificent ancient scarab was set in this custom gold setting in the 19th century during the Egyptian Revival. During that time these ancient artifacts were still readily available in Egypt. It is incredible how long this has lasted and these are getting harder and harder to find. This one is exceptionally brilliant. The back of the scarab has a hieroglyphs showing two lines "II" that may represent the number 2, or perhaps they have another meaning such as an abbreviated "KA" (life) symbol. If you have any ideas, please let us know. The gold ring and prongs are very strong and heavy--and crafted with great skill. The scarab is wonderfully preserved, the gold setting is loose, and one of the side prongs is missing (see images). This setting is still awesome and can easily be repaired, or worn as it is. This setting was custom made for this scarab. The Faience glaze made of crushed gemstone quartz refracts the light and creates blazing light rays in the sunlight. This scarab is similar to ancient trade rings displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in their scarab collection. This one closely matches their scarabs dated circa 1400 B.C.E. and you can view them in their online photo collection.
