Description: This charming still life features a group of strawberries cradled in a cabbage leaf lying on grassy ground. It’s as if the artist captured the moment between a spontaneous harvest with a make-do cabbage leaf basket and the trek back to the kitchen laden with bounty. Oil on canvas, signed lower right by “M Haydn” and annotated verso. American school, likely late 19th century or early 20th century. Frame is likely not original. Painting measures approximately 10 inches by 12 inches (unframed) or 12.5 inches by 14.5 inches (framed) and 1.25 inches deep. The item(s) are antique and sold as is/as found.
