Description: Antique EGYPTIAN relief tile Pharaoh AKHENATON w/ sun god ATEN. Heavy fired clay. Highly detailed. Very good to excellent condition and clean. A depiction of the pharaoh Akhenaton with the sun god Aten or Aton in the Egyptian Museum, Cairo, Egypt. Akhenaton reigned c. 1364-1347 BCE. Akhenaten, known before the fifth year of his reign as Amenhotep IV, was a pharaoh of the Eighteenth dynasty of Egypt who ruled for 17 years and died in 1336 BC or 1334 BC. He is especially noted for abandoning traditional Egyptian polytheism and introducing worship centered on the Aten, which is sometimes described as monotheistic or henotheistic. WHITE SPOTS AND STREAKS ARE REFLECTIONS AND GLARE FROM THE LIGHTING. Measures 12 1/4 inches long by 7 5/8ths inches wide and 3/4s of an inch thick. Weighs 4 pounds 5ounces. No cracks, chips, gouges or stains. I find some light surface scuffs commensurate with infrequent handling, cleaning and storage. This unique and well-composed tile/plaque is clean and ready for display. WHITE SPOTS AND STREAKS ARE REFLECTIONS AND GLARE FROM THE LIGHTING.
