Description: Antique Gruen Ladies Gold-Filled Watch - with original Aegler 819 Rolex 600 Running Movement! Here you have a really beautiful and rare antique GRUEN WATCH in great condition for its age. The GRUEN watch company was known for producing high-quality timepieces. It dates from around 1922-1928 and is a stunning piece that will surely impress with its beautiful details — lovely gold flowers around the case bezel, gold numbers and original steel blue hands, sparkling gold flower design in the center, original strap and gold-filled adjuster, and original beautiful blue stone/glass on the crown. It features a mechanical (manual) and rare AEGLER 819 ROLEX 600 movement that is still winding and running as intended (including seconds!) and a “ULTRA QUALITY GOLD FILLED WADSWORTH BACK CASE. The Aegler Gruen 819 movement was ultimately re-named the “Rolex 600” movement from the 1920’s to late 1930s. It is a really good movement, still running 100 years later! You can find more information on it on the Rolex website and online. Except for a very little dark dent on the case (see photo with red circle), the watch is in fantastic shape, and the since — according to research— WADSWORTH made 14K Reinforced and Ultra Quality gold filled cases for Gruen, considered to be “thicker gold than in 25-year rated ones”, it retains a lovely shine a century later! NOTE: It should be noted that the back case removes quite easily and can only be put back on in the same way; with the branding facing the crown :-) There is also info on Gruen stating that gold content on Gruen was higher than other manufacturers. Overall, this is a truly amazing and beautiful piece that has survived the tests of time. It would make a great gift for a lover of antiques or watch collector.
