Description: This is an antique school house metal ceiling fixture with a huge milk glass globe. The circumference is approx. 52” at the largest part of the globeApprox. 18” diameter The glass globe is 11” tall and the metal fixture is 5” tall making the drop from the ceiling approx. 15” since the glass globe fits inside the metal fixture a little bit. Notice the clips and just one screw to hold the glass globe to the metal fixture. Very different. The porcelain socket has a unique screw top in which you screw back on after you have wired it. HistoryThis was taken out of a school that was being torn down in the 1950s in Liberal, KS. My dad who was building our family home used the lumber from this school to build our home. My dad had several items from that school and put in our home and this light fixture was one of them. This hung in our basement and has been there since 1955. From research the school was built in 1909. It seems that the residential area did not get electricity until the 1920s. Some commercial buildings before then had lights so not sure when the school received electricity. This fixture would be 1920s or earlier depending on that fact. The globe will be shipped UPS by itself. The metal fixture will be shipped separately. If you have any questions just ask.If you need more than one shade I have two more and if asked I will get them listed. Only the shade, no metal ceiling holder.
