Description: This is a set of four antique bar stools manufactured in the 1920s by Chicago Hardware Foundry that have been restored to their original period appearance. The bar stools feature a 14-inch round seat with a black painted pedestal that were cast featuring a recessed trapezoidal inset painted red to match. Each stool includes a Royal Industries cushion upholstered in faux leather for added comfort on top of 2.5-inch, 3-ribbed chrome steel rings. They stand at a height of 21.5 inches with a seat diameter of 14 inches, featuring a swivel design for added functionality. The Deluxe style of these bar stools adds a touch of Roaring '20s elegance to any space, making them a unique and stylish addition to any home or public bar/fountain. Besides the high-quality "Ni-resist" castings for durability, this series was considered the best at the time (as well as today) because of their adjustability feature of compensating for anticipated wear expected in the commercial environment. This was achieved using a "stepped" 2-point seat pivot machined to match the socket drillings with the 15.5-inch pedestal yielding two internal wear surfaces. In addition, CHF predicted that after decades of constant use even their tough cast iron was going to enlarge the socket holes and accordingly, cast their pedestals with a provision to re-tighten any wobble that may occur using a bolt or in this example, less noticeable setscrews. The unmarred lathe cut lines are still visible on the seat pivots bearing no wear grooves indicating the wobble adjustment never needed to be employed on this set. Another strong feature was that the "foot" mounting holes of the 6.75" x 6.75" base mating to the floor were centered along the linear edge rather than the more fragile corners. Because Royal Industries has a full array of seat colors should red not be desirable, the inset can be painted to match a new seat color or simply changed to solid black making the appearance easily customizable.
