Gp Capt George William Pixton. Most notably Gp Capt Pixton led the RAF's Jaguar detachment during the Gulf War, 1991, for which he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Gp Capt Pixton initially joined he RAF as an apprentice but was selected for training as a fast jet pilot. On completion of his training he flew Hawker Siddeley Hunters before conversion to Sepecat Jaguars. He served with No. 14 Squadron in Germany and was then posted to No. 41 Squadron flying the Jaguar in the tactical reconnaissance role. Gp Capt Pixton undertook an exchange tour with the USAF flying the Republic Fairchild A-10 Thunderbolt. Gp Capt Pixton notably led the RAF's Jaguar detachment during the Gulf War, 1991. He retired from the RAF in the early 2000s.
