Description: (STAND INCLUDED W/PURCHASE) I found this sizable almost 9” diameter mortoniceras species ammonite fossil in early 2024 near the Chisolm trail toll road in Johnson county along a Fort Worth formation exposure. Its estimated age of 90-100 million years old places it in the age of dinosaurs. I personally prepared this ammonite using a Dremel 290. The center was missing upon discovery, so I repaired the center using a strong epoxy and then painted the epoxy, also mixed with ground up limestone for a natural look vibe outer portion of the ammonite looks great. A nice prepped mortoniceras can go for as much as $20 per inch for larger ones. You’ll see some of my ammonites far cheaper than $7 per inch, usually due to how worn down or damaged the ammonite might be. I still want those ammonites to be good VALUE for the buyer. This particular ammonite is what I consider a good deal for a premium quality ammonite. If you don’t buy it, I happily keep it in my collection.
