Description: This Texel Roving is a soft wool dyed Burgundy with Jacquard Acid Dye before carding. We use 140 degree water and maintain the temperature throughout the dyeing process. Vinegar is the acid used. The fiber is then washed twice in cold water with our Belfast fiber Washer to make sure all extra dye and vinegar smells are gone. The fiber is then cool air dried, treated for carding and carded. Prior to the dyeing process the fiber is professionally washed and carded by Alford Family Farms and Spinnery, with great care taken to ensure a wonderful end product. The wool is skirted, pre-washed followed by opening, tumbling, hand picking of vegetable matter, two washes, two rinses and then dyeing and carding. The scouring process allows for a gentle moving of water through the wool to avoid agitation. Temperature controls prevent shock to the fleece as it soaks. No harsh chemicals are used in the cleaning of the fleece. A Stonehedge picker and carder process the washed and dyed fleece. This GORGEOUS wool is from a white Texel fleece which has been dyed Burgundy. The roving is perfect for spinning and knitting, or felting into warm garments! The carded fiber is super easy to spin on a spinning wheel or drop spindle. The color is a rich Burgundy throughout. This wool is from Jehovah-Jireh Farm where the animals are kept drug free. Note: Colors will look slightly different on each computer. All fibers in this listing are from the same dye lot (Burgundy1).
