Description: Up for sale is a Chicago Hardware and Foundry 87X cast iron skillet. This skillet was restored in an etank and reseasoned. It is ready to cook, or to add to your collection. There are no cracks, the cooking surface still has a small amount of finish left. Spout to spout measurement is 10 3/4" and it is 2 1/4" high.In 1897, Chicago Hardware Manufacturing Co was turning to other fields, two employees.(John Sherwin & E.P. Sedgwick) leased their company's Foundry and started their own company. Located in North Chicago, they named it -- " Chicago Hardware Foundry Co"Sherwin became president and Sedgwick was Secretary Treasurer. They made high quality grey iron castings and were most noted for their Cast Iron Cookware ...... especially Skillets. See Views. Their most noted Brand Names were: "Favorite", "Sani-Ware" & "Ni-Resist". John Sherwin remained President until his death in 1921. E. P. Sedgwick succeeded him as President until his death in 1935. In 1934, they acquired patterns and tooling from defunct Favorite Stove & Range Co of Piqua, OH. In 1938, the Chicago Hardware Foundry was destroyed during a labor riot, and not much is known after that.
