Description: This handmade German marble is an interesting complex core type: a 'banded latticino', with elements of both the lattice threads typical of a latticino, enclosed in the wide jelly blue and opaque red vanes of a divided core core. An unusual marble. Type: Divided Core marbles make good additions to a collection of German antique varieties, and were a fundamental mainstay of marble production from the early glass factories of the time. They come in such a huge range of colour and style: typically with a number of split or divided vanes, often symmetrically arranged and with bright, contrasting colours or translucent jelly elements. Sometimes they have a filleted, ribbed or striped appearance to each vane adding extra interest; and usually they have an outer decorative layer nearer the surface. They are a much-loved and highly collected variety, their beautiful colours and fun design making for an eye-catching and intricate spectacle - highly varied, detailed and captivating.
