Description: This large hand carved wood sculpture might be made of drift wood, the wood having drilled holes once part of a ship. It has a nicely carved smooth and slightly meandering surface, clearly representing an eel, likely a Moray. It measures approx 36" L, and when on the specially notched drift wood base is approx 11" H and about 4" W at the base. The piece was likely carved at or near the sea, and is based on a creature most everyone recognizes, a Moray eel. There are initials and perhaps a symbol which you see in one of the photos, though I have no idea who or where it originated at. It is well carved, in very nice condition with a beautiful finish. The eel rests loosely in the notched base and one must find the proper position and balance to right it. The total weight is approx 8 pounds for both pieces.
