Our regular price for this poster is $189 Here we are offering a rarely seen silk-screened Cuban political poster -- this one a brilliantly colorful Pop Art masterpiece printed in Havana in 2005 to salute a 1968 poster designed by famed Cuban artist Raúl Martínez (1927-1995), whose work can be found in museums worldwide. This scarce 12 by 17 inch handmade poster was distributed in 2005 by the Havana-based Organization of Solidarity of the People of Asia, Africa & Latin America (OSPAAAL) as part of a portfolio of 10 silkscreens. Over six decades, OSPAAAL promoted Cuba's solidarity with countries and revolutionary movements in the Third World. Like many OSPAAAL graphics, the title of this poster is offered in multiple languages -- in this case, English, Arabic, Spanish and French. OSPAAAL closed its doors in Havana in June 2019, making many of its famed posters more difficult to find. As mentioned, the poster in this listing is a mini silk-screened version of a 1968 offset poster designed by Raúl Martínez. The colors on the silk-screened version -- the one in this listing -- are more vibrant, as one might expect, than the earlier offset version or later offset reproductions. (Very few OSPAAAL posters were silk-screened.) This poster depicts a Cuban man -- a guajiro from the countryside -- hoisting the red, white and blue Cuban flag during a July 26 "Day of the Revolution" celebration. Overall condition of this poster is good. As with many Cuban posters, minor imperfections are possible.
