Description: Vintage copy of Dazed & Confused magazine, 1994, Issue No. 8, (Published 1993) Cover - Jackie Volker photographed by Rankin. Features: Supersonic , Gin and Tonic Fighting Talk - Noel and Liam Gallagher confidently assert that Oasis are going to be 'bigger than the Beatles, bigger than Bowie', so they assume the personas of John Lennon and Ziggy Stardust respectively, and allow their alter egos to disclose whose songs they're ripping off on their upcoming debut album (Definitely Maybe). Keep Cool, Shake Well, Serve Cold - Moby shares his belief that pop music can thrive when contrasting - or even antagonistic, - cultural forms, traditions and perspectives find a way to co-exist and cross-fertiliise, and how for him, the discovery of hidden affinities between house music, abstinence, speed metal and Christianity have driven the evolution of his music. Perpetuating the Myth of the Artist as a Rock 'n' Roll Star - Modern art colossus Damien Hirst talks about the elaborate titles of his artworks, German toilets as wedding gifts, how the colours of his spots are chosen, not liking vandalism of his work but appreciating the effort made by the sender of his first piece of hate mail, and a hypothetical future artwork in which both his hands would be amputated by a surgeon, placed on a surface two feet away, filmed, and then returned to his arms to be sewn back on. Hussein Chalayan - Hussein Chalayan may come across as something of an oddball but he is one of London's most hyped new designers. He talks about his conviction that ideas in fashion should be inspired by anything other than clothes and discusses how this tenet underpins his dedication to experimenting with sometimes idiosyncratic methods. Plus: Fashion stories shot by Rankin, Phil Knott, Lorenzo Poccianti and Roger Charity. Also:Gina Bellman, Charlotte Coleman, Rachael Weisz, Liza Walker, Catherine McCormack, Kate Beckinsdale, Sadie Frost, Sheherezade Ventura, Neal Stephenson, Milla Jovovich, μ-Ziq, Dave Angel, Luke Slater, Beaumont Hannant, Black Dog, Future Advertising, George O'Dowd, Karen Krisanovitch, Lily Savage, Mark Moore, Paul Smith and Ian R. Webb, This magazine is in very good condition. There is a faint crease, approximately 6cm long, running vertically on the centre right hand side area of the front cover, which can be seen if it's held up to the light, but which s otherwise barely perceptible. This is a flaw stemming from a tiny wrinkle in the coating of the paper occurring when the paper was first made. All pages are intact, unmarked and undamaged, with only a small degree of discolouration consistent with age and minimal signs of normal use overall. I've decided to part with to my sizeable collection of fashion, art and music magazines from the 1980s and 90s, so please do check my page periodically as I'll be posting listings for other issues of Dazed plus copies of THE FACE, Ray Gun, Arena, Arena Homme Plus, and others, all purchased by me at the time of publication (a very, very long time ago).
