Description: This auction is for a custom-made stainless steel stand for the Nest thermostat. This item is designed and manufactured in the U.S. by me, it is not made by Nest. This Nest stand is an optional thermostat accessory that allows you to place the Nest Thermostat on a shelf, table or desk instead of mounting it on the wall. You could even place it on your nightstand for convenience. The Nest stand gives you more installation options for the Nest Thermostat. Here are a few reasons why you might want to use the stand:You want to install the Nest Thermostat in a new spot, perhaps because your old thermostat was poorly placed.You don't want to drill holes and fish wires through your walls.You’re replacing a wireless thermostat.You'd like to control your Nest without getting out of bed/leaving your desk/using your phone.You don't have a wireless thermostat that you're replacing with the Nest Thermostat.You have an extra Nest thermostat and you want to use it as a desk clock!Put your Nest Learning Thermostat on a table or shelf, rather than on the wall.Put your Nest Thermostat in the best place to sense temperature and activity.Easily hide the cable for the Nest Thermostat.Clean and simple design. We recommend the stand if you have a wireless thermostat, or want to install Nest in a new place. With the stand, you can easily hide Nest's power cable and put your thermostat in a good place to sense the temperature. My photos show the Nest being powered by a transformer, but you will need to have all of the wires that your heating/cooling system requires connected in order for the Nest to control your system. I believe that in the UK, heating systems are wired in a way that allows the Nest to communicate wirelessly with them, and the Nest would only require power connections. But here in the U.S., you do need hard-wired connections between your heating/cooling system and the thermostat. I am unaware of any way to connect the Nest wirelessly to a heating/cooling system, but I imagine it could be done with the proper hardware and knowledge. Of course, the auction is for the stand only - you'll have to get your own Nest, sorry! =) Thank you very much for looking!
