The hook /loop system were used to retain the wing when being used for single tank diving to prevent the taco-effect. Each wing used 4 hooks (2 to attach to the loop on the waist webbing, and 2 to attach to the harness or platejust below the diver's shoulders). These hooks attached to the wing via a 1" (2.5cm) sewn-in rectangular loop on the wing.
