EC Artists of the 1950's - George EVANS his Only Horror Painting!!!

Description: 20 years ago, PhanToMB Publishing worked with most of the original EC Artists of the 1950's!(Tales from the Crypt, etc) The initial goal was to publish horror comics like the good old days, which they did! The Ghoul-Lunatic gang drew new-----and horrific-----front covers for ToMB Tales, which were an homage to the great EC comics of the 50's------with new stories and twist endings! Don't miss your chance to see and read these incredible comic books-----See (my) Other Items (above) In addition to horror comics, the EC Artists painted OIL PAINTINGS for PhanToMB Publishing! So here's a chance for you to own a real rarity! "Ace in the Hole!" by EC Artist George EVANS There's an interesting story behind this painting too! PhanTomb Publishing asked EC artistGeorge Evans if he'd paint a scene of Zombies chasing some poor victim through a swamp. George said yes, but weeks passed and somehow the painting never got started. So I decidedthat George needed more encouragement! Then I switched the subject matter to airplanes(Evans loved airplanes his entire lifetime)------and George went right to work on it! The swamp scene, by the way, was done later as an ink cover! (Thanks, George!) The painting featured MY favorite airplane-----the red German Tri-Plane! Its pilot is theRed Baron of Death, and he's the terror of the skies! He never misses! In this scene, he'snot only the winner, but like someone hitting a perfect bullseye in the center of a target, heshoots down the British plane at the perfect spot so that it crashes into the center of a canyon.Bullseye! And thus the title------"Ace in the Hole!" It's interesting that George Evans inked 3 SHOCK comic covers for Bill Gaines, and oneCRIME cover, but none were horror covers. Yet he inked several horror covers for PhanToMB! And while George did many paintings of airplanes, he never did a single horror painting-------except for this single painting for PhanTomb--------and that might have never happened if he justnever got around to painting that zombies-in-the-swamp scene! Talk about RARE......
