Description: You are bidding on a mailed "free frank" envelope signed by former First Lady Grace Coolidge (1879-1957). As a former First Lady, Mrs. Coolidge was permitted to sign the envelope for mailing in the United States Postal Service. This envelope was addressed in Mrs. Coolidge's hand to the Northampton Electric Light Company in Northampton, Massachusetts and postmarked from Northampton, Massachusetts on June 8, 1935 (about 2½ years after former President Calvin Coolidge's death). The envelope has been opened with a letter opener and as such has a jagged opening at the top, nearly touching the signature but not directly affecting it. The contents of the letter have been removed, so you would just be receiving the envelope. The back of the envelope is blank. There is a fold down the middle of the envelope through the postmark and signature. Overall in very good condition, a nice example of the presidential free franking privilege.
