Description: *NOTE TO EBAY - THESE BOXES ARE SHIPPED FLAT AND DO NOT CONTAIN ANY RESTRICTED AMMUNITION COMPONENTS*Up for your consideration is a set of four empty reproduction WWII-era .30 Caliber 20 round ammunition cartons from the FRANKFORD ARSENAL, which includes one M2 BALL carton, one M2 ARMOR PIERCING carton, one M1 TRACER carton, and one M1 INCENDIARY carton.The .30-06 cartridge, first developed in 1906, was the official U.S. rifle and light machine gun cartridge in both World Wars and Korea. Total small arms ammunition production from 1940-1945 exceeded 41.7 billion rounds, and of that total the Caliber .30 round accounted for 25 billion rounds in all loadings (ball, armor-piercing, tracer, and incendiary). During the 1930s Frankford Arsenal was the only plant in the U.S. producing military small arms ammunition. It also carried out the bulk of the research and development work on small arms ammunition during the war years. In October 1941 the Arsenal was put on a 24-hour basis to produce small arms ammunition for the armed forces. Peak daily production was reached during the spring of 1943. By then, nine different types of .30 caliber (totaling 1.9 million rounds) and five types of .50 caliber (totaling 292,000 rounds) ammunition was being manufactured in every 24-hour period. Frankford Arsenal remained open after the end of the war, eventually closing in 1977. Each "Buy It Now" single purchase is for 4 unassembled cartons with dividers and 4 different Frankford Arsenal labels - one M2 Ball, one M2 Armor Piercing, one M1 Tracer, and one M1 Incendiary. The hand-stamped lot numbers match my originals, or if you prefer, I can duplicate a lot number of a spam can, crate or original carton that you may have.
