Description: Pretty neat historical piece here, minted shortly after the first steps were taken on the moon. The Franklin Mint Project Apollo set contains 20 custom medals made of sterling silver, each depicting a different scene related to the Apollo program's flights to the moon. The reverses show the moon itself. Per Franklin Mint: "This set of medals was struck on a special lot of sterling silver containing a small amount of metal returned from the epic moon voyage of Apollo XIII" The medals are still sealed but they contain toning and hazing from being in an album for over 50 years. It is characteristic of this set. Based on the best information I can find, each coins weighs 0.45 oz for a total of 9.0 oz, which corresponds with an actual silver weight (ASW) of 8.3 oz (due to the 92.5% silver composition of sterling). These sets are fairly rare as exonumia goes. Offers accepted, and feel free to ask any questions you may have. Thanks for looking.
