Description: Vintage 1950s striped cotton day dress / S, XS ◊ Label: Cinderella ◊ Materials: unreadable; fabric feels like cotton A simple cotton short-sleeved dress from the 50s to brighten your day. With a timeless striped pattern of purplish-blue and white, a vertical inset on the left side of the bodice for textual contrast, pleating round the waist, she is simple loveliness. Closes with a long metal zip at the back. With belt loops but no belt. She'd love to be paired with your favourite autumn cardigan. ◊ Size: vintage size 12 on label; fits S or XS the best; please see measurements below ◊ Measurements taken when the dress is laid flat:- shoulder to shoulder: 14.5"- underarm to underarm: ~18" x 2- waist: 12.5" x 2- bodice (top of shoulder to waist at the back): 16"- armhole: ~7.5" x 2- cuff circumference: 6" x 2- zip length: ~20.5"- dress length: ~39"- hem allowance: nearly 2" (~1 7/8") ◊ Condition: in good vintage condition. The dress has fabric fading that is commensurate with her age, with some of her stripes acquiring a lavender tint. I believe there used to be decorative buttons of some sort on the vertical inset on the bodice, as there are five pairs of tiny, mostly pin-sized vestigial holes along the inset and the fabric behind it (see pics for close-ups); they are tiny and do not detract from the loveliness of the dress. I found three seam separations on the dress: a 1.4cm (a bit over 0.5") one at the waist (front, right); another 1.7cm one at the waist (back, ~2cm to the right of the zip); a 2cm one near the underarm area on the bodice (top left). There may be areas on the waist seam that could benefit from reinforcement. The fabric feels sturdy -- and the dress has a timeless character; you may wear her as she is.
