Description Hardy Perfect 3 3/4" Salmon Fly Reel With Very Rare Auxiliary Brake Maker: Hardy Bros Model: Perfect salmon fly reel with Auxiliary brake Approximate year of manufacture: 1928 Condition: Excellent Material: Alloy Length/ diameter: 3 3/4" Country of manufacture: Alnwick England Ideal use: Fish or collect Just arrived, this fine and rare Hardy Perfect 3 3/4" salmon fly reel with brass fitted auxiliary brake - made from around 1928 - 1936 complete with original factory fitted line guard, ebonite handle, 88mm brass straight foot and brass rim tension regulator. Hardy Auxiliary brakes were factory added to all types of drum reels, fly, spin, trolling and big game patterns. The one here is on a Hardy Perfect 3 3/4" salmon reel from the late 1920s / early 1930s, with Duplicated Mk 2 check mechanism, it has it all. The reason for the aux brake is to give additional pressure to the spool controlled by the angler over and above the check regulator system on the rim. Turns without any tight spots, drag working fine. No line burns, cracks or damage. A rarely seen reel. One to collect or use.
