Description: Heisey Puritan 1489 Candy Box w Lid Extremely Rare 5” Square Clear Glass An extraordinary find! Absolutely dazzling! It is not marked but identification has been confirmed via multiple trusted sources as well as a visual in an old Heisey wholesale catalog ad. Message me for details on that if you need it. Preowned vintage item, the Puritan line was made by Heisey from 1940s - 1950s. Measures approximately 4.75” x 4.75” square and approximately 5.25” tall including the finial on the lid. It is crystal clear and no chips or cracks. May have a tiny air bubble, straw mark or super tiny flea flake here or there. Inside bottom of the box / jar has a few minor faint scratches attributed to items being stored in it - perhaps jewelry. Not noticeable unless examining up close and looking specifically for it. The finial and wafer are one single piece that was then applied to the lid. There is a tiny stress line or two inside the glass of the lid where the wafer meets the lid. This occurred during the manufacturing process. It is very tiny and very faint. Doesn’t detract from function or beauty. There a few ultra tiny flakes on some corners and edges. The finial may have a super tiny flake at very top point pinnacle. Not visible but I think I can barely feel a slight roughness with my fingertip so I am calling it. Also, a super tiny flake on edge of one facet of the tip of the finial. Again, so so faint. I strive to declare anything I see or feel in the spirit of being as thorough as possible in the description. Bottom underneath side of box has some expected surface wear attributed to age and being slid back and forth on a tabletop. I can feel a tiny flake spot on edge of lid. SEE PICS Nothing that detracts from function or beauty. This piece displays wonderfully and is a fabulous rare example to add to your Heisey collection.
