Description: US Civil War Model 1840 NCO Marines Sword with Leather Scabbard. The ricasso is marked with a tombstone/keystone, the underside of the guard where the washer should be is marked "1 4 X", and the spine is marked "Horstmanns" over "Phila". The brass guard and grip are tight. The knuckle guard and clamshells are tarnished. The blade is straight, unsharpened, a few very minor nicks towards the tip, and there are age spots with surface rust scattered throughout. The leather scabbard is solid/complete but broken in two pieces, the stitching is tight, dirty from storage, a little leather loss, minor crazing, and the throat piece moves a little. Washer is missing. Length of the blade is 32" (15/16" wide and 5/16" thick), the sword is 38 1/8", and in the scabbard it is 39". Check out my other War items!!
