Featured is a colorful lithographic illustration that was provided by Ellen Clapsaddle, one of the most prolific and talented artists of postcards at the turn of the last century (her signature appears at the lower-left corner). This one features a open hymnal showing music notes. It's surrounded by colorful holly and lit candles. When you supersize image 1 you can see the wonderful details. The artistry is terrific and the colors are still vivid. Printed in pre-WWI Germany, and published by the International Art Publishing Co. (one of Clapsaddle's favorite publishers), this beautifully embossed postcard has been posted and has a 1908 cancellation across the one-cent stamp on the undivided back. Here is a wonderful 110 year-old card that is ready for framing. It will make a thoughtful gift or can be added to your Christmas or Clapsaddle postcard collection.
