The Gunderson Maxi IV container well car is a three unit articulated freight car designed to carry multiple intermodal container sizes, maximizing versatility and flexibility for railroads and shippers alike. The depressed center well allows for containers to be stacked two high, resulting in a dramatic increase in containers carried per train. The three unit car carries one roadnumber with suffixes used to distinguish the separate wells and is joined together by drawbars on the interior well with couplers on the two end cars.
