Description: On August 2, 1990, a force of one hundred thousand Iraqi troops invaded Kuwait and overran the country in a matter of hours. The invasion of Kuwait led to a United Nations Security Council embargo and sanctions on Iraq and a U.S.-led coalition air and ground war, which began on January 16, 1991, and ended with an Iraqi defeat and retreat from Kuwait on February 28, 1991. I was an Armor Officer with First Brigade, First Infantry Division (MECH), Ft. Riley Kansas. The Big Red One. After the ground war, I led a platoon that cleared bunkers of Iraqi soldiers that were dug in. One of the many things that I collected was an Iraqi Army operations map. I rolled it up, put in my duffel bag and took it back to Kansas with me. I resigned my commission shortly after returning from the Persian Gulf in May, 1991 and later, had this map matted and framed. This isn't a reproduction folks. I literally took it out the Iraqi desert. A sensational find and a must have for the serious military collector.
