M1 Garand Timing Block

Description: Listing is for a 3D printed M1 Garand Timing Block. Original engineering drawings were converted to 3D printable file. This timing block is not designed for heavy gunshop use but rather for an individual with a Garand to check his/her own timing. TIMING BLOCK INSTRUCTIONS To use the timing block for the M1 Garand rifle use the following steps: 1. Apply Safety 2. Pull the operating rod handle back to fully lock the bolt back 3. Confirm the rifle is clear of ammunition, the chamber is empty and is safe to work on 4. With the rifle in your left hand or in a rest, place the timing block into the receiver well on top of the follower, and slowly push the timing block down into the rifle receiver 5. Observe the cut on the right side of the timing block. As you continue to slowly push the timing block down, watch for the moment when the bolt releases. (Note - the timing block will keep the bolt from going fully forward to battery) 6. When the cut on the timing block reaches the bolt rail on the side of the receiver, the bolt should release. If this occurs after the notch reaches top of the bolt rail on the receiver and before the top of the notch reaches the bolt rail on the receiver, the rifle timing is within timing specifications 7. If the bolt has released, pull the operating rod handle back and catch the timing block as the rifle ejects the timing block 8. If the bolt failed to release in the notch or release before the notch, repeat the test. 9. If the rifle fails the timing test again, the timing is not within specifications. Possible reasons are parts out of specification to include the operating rod catch assembly, bullet guide, follower arm, spring guide, operating rod and/or receiver. Refer to M1 Garand maintenance manuals to repair procedures
