Max Papart (1911-1994) 20th Century French Cubist best known for landscapes, circus scenes, collages, and portraits. Hand signed limited edition color lithograph on paper Image: 18.5"x 22.75", Margins: 21"x 29.5" Pencil signed lower right--see photos Pencil numbered lower left--see photos Looks good, in original "as found" untouched condition, foxing in margins, water stain in upper right margin, scattered creases, unframed--please look at photos carefully. Great looking composition by French modernist Max Papart! This image depicts a cubist/modernist style still life with a guitar and sheet music before a moonlit landscape. This is a fine example of Papart's work with a fantastic subject. My price of $349 is extremely reasonable and far below what one would be expected to pay for it in a gallery or at auction. Please check out the other artwork in our store on ebay. We regularly feature newly acquired artwork, from antique and vintage to contemporary and modern. Select the "See other items" tab on our page. Biography: Max Papart was a French painter and printmaker. He is best known for his depictions of circus performers, birds, figures, still lifes, and landscapes in a colorful Cubist style. Papart’s work captured the joy of life through a sense of movement, cheerful hues, and lighthearted subject matter. Born on December 19, 1911 in Marseilles, France, the artist studied at the School of Fine Arts in Marseilles before moving to Paris in 1936, where he began exhibiting at the Salon des Indepedants. In the years 1969–1973, he taught printmaking at the University of Paris VIII in Vincennes. The artist died on August 29, 1994 in Paris, France. Today, Papart’s works are in the collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, and the National Gallery in London, among others. 100% Guaranteed to be as described.
