Description: You are bidding on one AS-IS Stanley Number 15 Excelsior style wood block plane as pictured. There are multiple condition issues, so please keep reading.The iron is marked "L BAILEY'S PATENT AUG 6, 67 AUG 31, 58 EXD". The plane is not marked except for owner initials "FAT" stamped once on each side. Overall length of the body is about 7". Width of the iron at the lower edge is a bit under 1-5/8", and overall length is about 4-5/8". The lever that adjusts the iron up and down is broken at the pivot hole as shown in the last picture. I didn't try very hard to move the pivot pin, but that pin seems very happy right where it is and didn't want to move. The brass adjusting nut moves up and down in its full travel. The cap is cracked starting at the front edge of the upper grip as shown in 3 of the last 4 pictures, and the crack extends probably an inch towards the rear lower edge of the cap. Condition would otherwise be good. The bottom and sides have some scratches and patina (color), and a few bits of very faint pitting. The majority of the japanning remains, but has dulled. The front knob operates properly, but shows wear in the knurling and has some tarnish. The iron has some patina (color) and scratches, and a few hints of pitting. EXCEPT as noted, there are no other cracks or chips or chunks missing from any of the castings, and everything operates properly. The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which means early October to late January. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it's not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20" long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30" long, because those longer packages won't fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights. I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item. If the value is $250 or over, eBay requires your signature at delivery for the buyer and seller protections to be in effect.SALES TAX: Interstate sales tax is now the reality on all the major selling websites including eBay. If I ship to a state where eBay is required to collect sales tax, eBay will charge you the sales tax for your location. There is lots of information available from eBay that explains it in much more detail. The sales tax is completely out of my hands -- I don't have anything to do with deciding whether to charge tax, I don't have anything to do with deciding the tax rate, and I never see any of the funds that are collected, they go directly to eBay.SELLING OUTSIDE OF EBAY: Why would I risk my lengthy good standing with eBay to save you a couple of dollars? Especially when you ask on an email that is sent through the eBay email system? Please don't ask, the answer is no.INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: I no longer ship Internationally other than Canada.
