Brief History of Whiting Manufacturing Company North Attleboro, MA; Bridgeport, CT; and Providence, RI 1866-1926Founded by William D. Whiting and successor to Tifft & Whiting and W.D. Whiting & Co. Moved from North Attleboro to Bridgeport after a fire destroyed the North Attleboro factory. Acquired by Gorham in 1926 and then moved to Providence. The story is that servants that couldn't afford a 'real' wedding ring would steal a silver spoon from their master and have it crafted into a ring.
