Description: This is one of the best examples of this medal that I have seen. It is still largely red in color. Most copper examples are dark brown. Although, this piece was weakly struck, most in this medal tend to be. It also comes with an original pamphlet describing how it was first used at the United States Mint (in Philadelphia, PA) with steam power. George B. Soley eventually purchased the press and used it to strike many souvenir medals, most with a Lord's Prayer reverse. After his death, his widow donated the press to the Franklin Institute, where this piece would have been struck. Size/Diameter: 19mmComposition: CopperEngraver: August C.
