Description: "The New Hawaii" is a 270 page (plus 16 plates), 5.5"x8.75" hardcover written by Charmian London and published in 1923 by Mills & Boon (London). Originally published as "Our Hawaii" in 1917, a second edition appeared as "Our Hawaii (Islands and Islanders) in 1922 with the addition of "My Hawaiian Aloha" by Jack London (pages 9-59), Charmian's late husband, which had previously been published in 1916 in The Cosmopolitan Magazine. "The New Hawaii" is the first British edition. The couple traveled the islands extensively and here attempt to "acquaint the world more fully with the enchantment of southern skies and seas that lie so accessible to the western coast of the United States of America." The book is in good condition, with no dust jacket. The blue cloth boards show edge wear, various small scuffs, spots and indentations. The front board is slightly curved. The hinges are intact. There's an armorial bookplate to the front pastedown, an August, 1924 gift inscription on the ffep. The interior is otherwise unmarked, though there are a few small stains. The binding firm.
