Description: I've used this bag on weekend adventures but not travelling so it's not even been broken in. It's hard to find bags made of x-pac so this one is a rarity, and isn't made anymore. It's very light when empty compared to other bags and also has organization inside. I also added a cobra handle. I find it to long as I'm 5'4 but reviews online have taller people liking the bag. I believe it's from 2020. Will only ship with North America. No offers. -Dakine 38L Split Adventure First Impressions and Likes-At 2.8 lbs, this bag is fairly light and has tons of volume. The stowaway shoulder straps are very easy to stow and even easier to un-stow. Simple design that doesn’t require any additional zippers. The design of the shoulder strap stowaway system allows you to buckle the shoulder straps to a chair or table or bus seat if necessary. It's a nice option to have if you are concerned about someone running off with all of your stuff.Shoulder straps seem like they will be comfortable. I will have to wait for some real world testing before I can make any further comments.Load lifters are built in and do not interfere with the laptop compartment zipper.Besides the shoulder straps, there are 4 alternative carry straps. It's always nice to be able to pick up your bag without having to figure out which side the carry strap is on.The material choices are pretty good. The Xpac is a good choice, although I might prefer something a bit more durable than VX21. Xpac is a 4 layer material that has a waterproof layer, so that’s a big plus. Zipper security loops are included in the bag design, which is always nice to have.The Dakine logo is not obnoxious, and could be blacked out with a Sharpie in 30 seconds. The compression straps function well and do not cross any zippers. If I were to use this bag for a shorter trip, I could easily compress it and fit it under an airplane seat if necessary. The external water bottle pockets are huge, and I like that they are on the back surface of the bag and not on the sides. Originally, I thought side pockets would’ve been better, but that can lead to some imbalances left to right if you have a large water bottle on one side and not the other. Plus, in an airport/airplane setting, those side pockets bang into a lot of stuff/people. Having that pocket on the back side of the pack reduces those issues. The back pocket is large enough to hold a large Nalgene bottle on both sides, or a Nalgene bottle on one side, and a rain jacket on the other. The zipper down the middle opens into one of the inside compartments, so you could access a few items during travel if necessary. Without having used it in real life, I think it’s a good design. Overall the design is good. The smaller pockets are well thought out and seem easy to use. The laptop pocket has room for a large laptop, an iPad Pro with a magic keyboard, and a Kindle.Exterior daisy chains are always nice to have. I don't use them often, but they can be very useful for certain things.
