Description: Two Framed JACQUES CALLOT engravings, Neopolitan dancers, Valued 1920 series. A wonderful set of two Jacques Callot etchings from the 1920 series. They are fine engravings laid on Japon paper, professionally matted and in their original 1920s frames. Elegant pendant works for your home or collection to hang over a sofa or fireplace or with other works. The original etchings were done by Callot in 1622, a series of 24 that depict the Balli di Sfessania, an imaginative rendering of dancers performing the moresca, a Neapolitan dance. Many of the words inscribed on these engravings are Neapolitan. Each image, as seen here, contains two costumed dancers performing in an outdoor piazza observed by spectators. Look carefully in the background to see amazing details of spectators, other festival dancers, and Naples style houses. Condition: Images and frames both in vintage, very good condition, more than 100 years old! The images are in very good, undamaged condition. The frames also are in very good cndition.
