Description: Pair of Kangxi Period Styled Vases - Crackled Enamel GlazeCirca 1890 - S3380These two Chinese vases are similar to each other but not exact matches and appear to date to 1900.Each vase stands 7 1/2" tall and depicts a battle scene. The vases are finished in a crackled glaze with enamel. They have a raised dragon motif worked in metal (possibly brass) around the beginning of the neck, on either side of the neck as well as near the bottom.The work near the bottom is flat to the vase with the pattern etched into the metal as opposed to being raised.Vases in excellent condition believed to be in the Kangxi period style. Emperor Kangxi ( Ai Xin Jue Luo Xuan Ye) assumed the throne at the age of 7 and remained there for 61 years, making him the longest reigning emperor in Chinese history. He was considered one of the greatest emperors presiding over a period of relative stability and wealth. His reign was known as the Prosperous Era of Kangxi and Qianlong and his influence continued long after his death. He was a patron of the arts and was responsible for creating the Kangxi dictionary.
