Description: Description - Antique late 19th century Victorian solid silver combination vesta and tinder/ wick cord holder of rectangular form with a spring hinged lid and ribbed deoration. there is tubular compartment with a pull-out plug mechanism which has an attached loop to reveal a chain and a hook that is to be fixed to a wick which is held within the compartment (wicks can be easily obtained on ebay) strike plate to the base silver-gilt (gold washed) interior lid ha the engraved initials "E.F.P.K." made by renowned silversmith Sampson Mordan & Co. Fully hallmarked with the leopards head for London assay, the lion passant indicating 925 grade solid sterling silver, date "P" for the year 1890 and the maker's mark "SM & Co" which is Sampson Mordan & Co.
