Description: Vintage Guatemalan Kaqchikel Mayan Huipil from San Antonio Aguas Calientes, 24" long and 27" wide, with zippered opening for breast feeding. It is hand woven in two panels, a right side and a left side, 48" long x 13.5" wide. The neck opening is for a small statured woman, a linear slit 10". It is woven in such a manner that the decorative threads do not show on the interior of the garment. It was purchased in 1995 and was not a new garment at the time. It was hung for several years as a decorative motif in a medical clinic that served, in part, a substantial Hispanic community.
