Description: Hello, available is a vintage chess set in a leather bound chest. The chest is handmade, wood with leather binding. The inner appears to have a red fabric that once acted as a hinge then lined with a velvet like lining. It has brass hardware hinges and one hinge is loose with a screw missing. There is a wood board that pulls out from the bottom of the chest. It is also bound with leather. The fabric pull tabs to get the board out are frail so you have to be gentle to remove the board. The leather is starting to peel in various spots on the chest. The pieces are solid metal. I’m not going to claim to be an expert on how the pieces are made but they look like they were machined except the knights appear to be cast. This is definitely a unique set and would be an awesome addition to someone’s collection. Thanks!
