All you need to do is attach the in flow, long tube to your still, and attach the out flow, short tube to your condenser and you have successfully raised the percent abv by around 50%. This is why it is referred to sometimes as a "doubler."Attach it your way, solder, 1/2" compression fittings, flare, or 1/2" silicone tubing. It works very well as a flavor enhancer when filled with juice, or cinnamon, or a half a lemon, or sliced peaches, etc. This Thumper is made out of copper tubing and is designed in this orientation for strength. It is made this way to be able to hang mid air, in line with your column and condenser. It can hang freely and does not require you to find objects around the garage or house like buckets, jars and crates to support it, unlike the more common two hole design in which the copper will bend if you don't support it.This one will fit on any wide mouth canning jar. It can fit larger jars too. I found it to fit a large one gallon pickle jar and a large 3/4 gallon bean jar. You may have to cut some of the stem off if you want it to fit a smaller jar.
